Key Technology of High Speed and Ultra High Speed Grinding for CBN Grinding Wheel

High-speed and ultra-high-speed grinding technology research should be conducted with super-hard material CBN as a tool, modern ultra-high-speed cutting technology and modern high-flexibility and high-automation equipment to accelerate the practical process. The core key technologies for achieving high-speed and ultra-high-speed grinding to be gradually improved include high-speed and ultra-high-speed grinding mechanism research, high-power and high-speed motion unit equipment manufacturing technology, high-flexible and high-automation system, grinding center, research and development about super-hard abrasive micro-powder high-speed grinding wheel preparation technology and super-hard abrasive wheel dressing technology. Vitrified bond CBN grinding wheel is one of the most common wheels.
The main research work about high-speed and ultra-high-speed grinding mechanism is to develop high-speed, ultra-high-speed grinding computer animation, vision and predictive simulation software with virtual reality technology to reveal the inherent law of high-speed grinding. We aim at industrial practicalization, combine the experimental research with computer simulation methods to establish a complete basic theoretical system and processing parameter database for guiding industrial production practices, and finally achieving optimization of grinding process parameters and improving grinding performance.
High-power and high-speed motion unit equipment manufacturing technology includes high-speed spindle unit manufacturing technology and high-speed feed unit manufacturing technology. The high-speed unit forms a separate unit and becomes a functional component for easy configuration into a variety of machining processes, machining centers and grinding machines. From the current development status, the basic scheme of high-speed and high-power spindle unit is to adopt integrated built-in electric spindle. The key technologies involved are research and development of spindle material, structure and bearing, dynamic characteristics and thermal characteristics of spindle system, research on lubrication and cooling technology about spindle systems. The feed unit must be able to achieve high speed. And the feed unit should have large acceleration and deceleration speed and high positioning accuracy because of high speed, instantaneous stop, etc. The key technologies involved include servo drive technology , rolling element technology, monitoring unit technology and safety technology.
Research and development of high flexibility, high automation systems and grinding centers mainly include automatic feed, automatic grinding cycle, automatic measurement, automatic loading and unloading, fast workpiece clamping, automatic exchange of grinding wheels and other technologies. The ordinary grinding wheel will be crushed immediately when it is subjected to huge centrifugal force during high-speed rotation. Therefore, special high-speed and ultra-high-speed grinding wheels are necessary. At the same time, high-speed and ultra-high-speed grinding wheels should also have good wear resistance and movement, high balance accuracy. The abrasives for high-speed and ultra-high-speed grinding wheels are mainly cubic boron nitride (CBN), mainly including vitrified bond CBN grinding wheel, resin bond CBN grinding wheel and hybrid bond CBN grinding wheel.
