Grinding Mechanism Research about Precision Diamond Grinding Wheel

High surface quality and low surface damage are necessary for processing of various hard and brittle materials such as stone, glass, ceramics, semiconductor materials and optical crystals, etc. Therefore, various high-performance precision diamond grinding wheel is required for precision grinding. However, when the particle size of the diamond is reduced to a certain extent, the manufacture of the precision diamond grinding wheel has great difficulties, including the dispersion of the diamond, the selection of the bond, and the structural design of the grinding wheel, which are different from the ordinary grinding wheel. The abrasives used in precision diamond grinding wheel are all ultra-fine diamond powder. Diamond powder (150-850μm) coated with a layer of corundum can improve the adhesion between the abrasive and the resin bond. The self-sharpness of the grinding wheel is also improved, which improves the grinding efficiency of the grinding wheel by more than 30% and the service life by 30%. -35%.
The common bond are resin bond, ceramics bond, and metal bond. The resin bond has the advantages of good self-sharpness, elasticity, and good polishing performance. And resin bond include epoxy resin, phenolic resin, polyvinyl alcohol, urethane resin, etc. The ceramic bond precision diamond grinding wheel has the advantages of strong rigidity, good heat resistance, good corrosion resistance, high grinding efficiency and convenient dressing. Metal bond precision diamond grinding wheel has the advantages of high hardness and good abrasive holding power.
The good grinding performance of the grinding wheel, the material of the workpiece, the precise processing equipment and the appropriate processing technology are all important factors for precision grinding. Tests have shown that the size of the abrasive particles is the main factor affecting the surface quality of the workpiece, followed by the grinding wheel speed and feed rate.
Precision diamond grinding wheel is an indispensable tool for ultra-precision machining of hard and brittle materials. Therefore, the manufacture and finishing of precision diamond grinding wheels and the in-depth study of the grinding mechanism of different hard and brittle materials are important ways to improve the level of semiconductor and precision tool manufacturing industry in China.
